Evander Kane proves once again he's a great person away from the rink with this heartwarming gesture
Hockey players and celebrities, in general, are put into the spotlight for a number of reasons, and most are expected to be role models to the younger generation. Whether you believe that to be right or wrong is a different story.
Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane continues to prove that not only is he a great hockey player on the ice but a good person away from the rink as well; take a look:
Evander Kane went with Cecily Eklund to her scan day at the hospital last Tuesday. Kane has been in contact with the 10-year-old girl for a few months now, inviting her to games & doing a lot of few fun things with her. She has become his littlest best friend.
Cecily, who is battling cancer has been friends with Kane for some time, even attending playoff games this season.
Say what you will about Kane on the ice, but off of it, he's proving time and time again to be a fantastic role model. Everything from befriending Cecily Eklund to inviting her to games and now taking time out of his off-season to make sure he's there for her during her scans.
This is the kind of thing that makes that just warms your heart. We need more players like this in the game of hockey that's for sure.
