The Edmonton Oilers beginning to their season went from bad to rock bottom tonight as superstar forward Connor McDavid went down with a lower-body injury. The injury for McDavid knocked him out of the game early in the first period after an awkward fall on a trip from Ivan Provorov.
The fall would end up sending Connor McDavid to the dressing room and he would eventually be ruled out by the Oilers for the rest of the night. After losing Connor McDavid the wheels officially fell off for the Edmonton Oilers as they would go on to get dominated by the Columbus Blue Jackets losing 6-1.
While the loss was frustrating for the Edmonton Oilers the bigger concern is the loss of Connor McDavid to injury.
Throughout the game, reports came out that the injury suffered by Connor McDavid might not be that serious. According to insider Ryan Rishaug, the concern over Connor McDavid's injury might be higher than it needs to be.
After the game, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch spoke to the media. Of course, the first question he was asked was about the health of Connor McDavid. Kris Knoblauch revealed that Connor McDavid will return to Edmonton and be further evaluated for his lower-body injury. He also confirmed they expect to have more information tomorrow on a diagnosis.
This means that Connor McDavid will likely be missing at least one game due to this injury. The Oilers travel to Nashville and play on Thursday but according to Frank Seravalli Connor McDavid heading back to Edmonton likely means he misses their upcoming contest.
With Connor McDavid continuing to be evaluated we will provide the latest updates on Connor McDavid's status and potential return to the Edmonton Oilers lineup.
