The Florida Panthers have fired an employee after a photo of their new Stanley Cup center ice tribute leaked online.

In the age of social media, it's not uncommon for the public to read or hear that important or confidential information has been stolen or leaked. Although the following isn't nearly as serious and a data breach didn't occur it appears as if someone leaked a photo of centre ice at Amerant Bank Arena. The leak surfaced yesterday and occurred before the Panthers themselves had an opportunity to showcase it to their fans.

According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640 South Florida, the individual who took the photo and was responsible for the leak has been fired.

As noted, in the age of social media nothing is sacred and it's increasingly important to guard whatever you don't want people to have access to extremely well. In this case, while it should have been a no-brainer that nobody under any circumstances should be taking photos inside the arena let alone releasing them. But the Panthers have to know this was a possibility.

As for Amerant Bank Arena Ice, the logo is beautiful and worthy of praise. It would be cool if moving forward into this season and the future each Stanley Cup-winning franchise took this idea and spun it in their fashion. Similar to how the Panthers plan to do this season and the Vegas Golden Knights did before this.
