Yesterday, it was reported that former sixth-overall pick Filip Zadina had signed a professional tryout contract with the Buffalo Sabres, but shortly after, the report was denied by his agent, Darren Farris.
Ferris added that they are working on a contract for Filip Zadina and it appears that three teams have entered the mix for the free agent forward.
According to Pavel Barta of Denik Sport, the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs are three teams in the mix for Filip Zadina.
If Zadina were to sign with the Montreal Canadiens, it would make for quite the interesting storyline, especially after his comments after the draft back in 2018. Some draft experts believed Zadina could go as high as third overall the Montreal Canadiens, but they ended up going with Finnish forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Zadina then dropped to Detroit at sixth overall.
In the years that followed that comment, Zadina has only scored once against the Montreal Canadiens and once against the Ottawa Senators.
The Pardubice, Czechia native suited up in 72 games for the San Jose Sharks where he had 23 points (13 goals, ten assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a minus-44.
