The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins are two of the fiercest rivals in the entire NHL, and on Sunday they do battle once more as both teams look to get their 2024/25 season going.
Initially, the game was set for a 3PM ET start, but now an official delay has been revealed of over an hour, meaning that fans are in for a long wait if they tune in then.
The reason behind this is a fairly solid one, as this game marks almost 100 years to the day (December 8, 1924) since the Bruins played their first NHL game against, you guessed it, the Montreal Canadiens.
As a result, the game will not actually see the puck dropped until 4.15PM ET, and while the teams may not be great in 2024/25, this is still a rivalry with plenty of feeling in it.
Currently, these teams sit 31st and 18th in the NHL standings, with the offense's struggling to find ways to consistently score, but when rivalry games like this come around, teams always have the opportunity to spark their season.
It's unclear right now however if either of these teams are cut out for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with many questions about their rosters, but given how much their opposing fan bases hate each other, it should be a fun game regardless.
Ultimately though, if you're tuning in to catch this game, expect plenty of celebrations before the eventual puck drop at 4.15PM ET as one of the oldest rivalries in the NHL is rekindled again to celebrate the Centennial Game for the Boston Bruins.
