Canadiens rookie forward Emil Heineman is receiving medical care from team doctors today after he was hit by a car in Salt Lake City.

The Montreal Canadiens are visiting the Utah Hockey Club tonight and unfortunately the trip has gotten off to a bad start.

Rookie forward Emil Heineman had to receive emergency medical care last night after he was struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian in Salt Lake City.

The team announced that Heineman suffered an upper-body injury and will be out three to four weeks as a result of the incident.

This is obviously not good news for the Canadiens, and especially Heineman, but luckily things did not go as bad as they could have.

After all, accidents involving pedestrians are often fatal. Cars are large and heavy, very often making them lethal forces.

Habs fans are already considering themselves lucky the accident was not worse.

Heineman has had a great rookie season so far, putting up 10 goals and 17 points in 41 games.

He has done this largely playing a fourth line role as well, which makes his production even more impressive.

Hopefully, he will return to the ice next month as expected and will continue his strong season.

Heineman was drafted in the 2nd round, 43rd overall by the Canadiens in 2020.

The 23-year-old has since made a string case for himself that he should be considered part of the team's core moving forward.

We will just have to see how the rest of his career develops from here and hopefully this incident doesn't impact his development in any way.

Get well soon Emil!
