Two former Maple Leafs sign with the Nashville Predators
In an interesting turn of events, the Nashville Predators have signed two members of the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2022-23 roster. Ryan O' Reilly, traded to Toronto from the St. Louis Blues at the most recent deadline, has signed on for four years with the Preds. His annual average value is $4.5 million.
Meanwhile, Luke Schenn, who joined the Leafs at the deadline from the Vancouver Canucks, is reuniting with O'Reilly in the Music City. Schenn got three years with an annual cap hit of $2.75 million.
Newly appointed Nashville GM Barry Trotz has been very active since before the draft in attempting to reshape the team. In a huge move, Matt Duchene was bought out of his contract. As for O'Reilly and Schenn, there was simply no way Leafs GM Brad Treliving could offer them that type of money.
