Canadiens trade veteran defenceman to Washington Capitals
According to Frank Seravalli, the Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Joel Edmundson to the Washington Capitals for a third round pick and a seventh round pick.

Edmundson, 30, has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $3.5 million and a modified no-trade clause. In 61 games, he recorded 13 points (two goals, 11 assists), 58 penalty minutes and was a minus-29.
Montreal also retained 50% of Edmundson's salary as part of the deal
