Despite coming into the 2024/25 campaign as genuine Stanley Cup contenders in the Western Conference, the Nashville Predators haven't been able to find any momentum, as they currently find themselves in last place in the West.
That is despite the additions of several veterans, including Jonathan Marchessault, who recently called out the team's Head Coach and their overall performance following their horror 8-17-6 start to the year.
Now, rumours have surfaced that the team could look to move some of their big name veterans, including Steven Stamkos, with insider Marco D'Amico shutting that down, revealing exactly the opposite.
According to D'Amico, the team instead are looking to buy, and are now one of many teams that have joined the race to land young centre Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres, who may be available given his struggles in Buffalo as of late.
In 31 games this season, Stamkos, the former Tampa Bay Lightning captain and legend has just 8 goals and 16 points, and given that the rest of the team are underperforming as of late, the team begins to look worse and worse as time rolls on.
Given how far back they are in the Western Conference standings, it's unclear if Nashville can turn things around in time to make a Stanley Cup Playoffs run, but if they do want to attempt that, landing Cozens to give the team depth down the middle behind Stamkos and Ryan O'Reilly is a solid play.
Ultimately, this team has underperformed in a major way this season, but the top tier talent is still there, so if they can start slowly turning things around, expect them to be very aggressive in adding talent to this roster, rather than moving out their veteran pieces.
