Elliotte Friedman Reveals Blockbuster Trade Scenario Involving Vancouver Canucks' Elias Pettersson
Elliotte Friedman revealed a blockbuster trade scenario sending the Vancouver Canucks' top forward Elias Pettersson to the Buffalo Sabres.
Following a 10th straight loss, it's safe to say that the Buffalo Sabres need help on the ice.
After a promising start to the season, the team is now 7th in the Atlantic Division, with only one point ahead of the Montreal Canadiens at the 8th rank.
In a recent episode of 32 Thoughts, the insider Elliotte Friedman talked about how the Sabres are getting calls on Dylan Cozens amid their struggles.
In his own words:
"Alright, some other stuff: Buffalo is getting calls on Dylan Cozens. This would terrify me if I were the Sabres, vultures circling overhead while player and team struggle.
Right-shot centre, 23 years old, two years removed from a 30-goal season. He's also signed for five more seasons at a $7.1M AAV, helping his value. I would be very, very careful with this because he's legitimately wanted."
With that in mind, Friedman linked the Buffalo Sabres and the Vancouver Canucks in a trade scenario.
It's only speculation, but Friedman's idea is gaining traction in the hockey community.
According to him, the Sabres should go after Elias Pettersson, while the Canucks could be interested in Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram.
Here's what he said:
"I had some time on Sunday to think and I was thinking about the Sabres and I was thinking about Rick Tocchet and what he had to say on Saturday and reiterated on Sunday. I want to stress this is purely in my head, who says no? [Dylan] Cozens and Bowen Byram for Pettersson."
However, he added admitted that he doesn't think the Canucks would accept such a trade:
"If that was proposed I think that Vancouver is more likely to say no than Buffalo."
Pettersson has been struggling this season compared to his previous campaigns. But he's only 26 years old. It's much too early to give up on him.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in both organizations but don't be surprised if Pettersson remains in Vancouver for many more years.
