Ross Colton jumps Braden Schneider following big, clean hit on teammate
The New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning both looked to be in full playoff mode Wednesday night as the two team's faced off at Madison Square Garden. There was plenty of rough stuff in this game, including the Rangers' Ross Colton full on jumping the Bolts' Braden Schneider following a clean hit.
Schneider lined up Nick Paul perfectly and clobbered him with a huge hit as Paul was trying to carry the puck into the offensive zone. Despite the hit being clean, Colton jumped on Ross in an attempt to avenge his teammate.
Much has been said over the past two seasons about the number of fights in the NHL following hits that aren't dirty in any way. Some see it as part of the game, while others consider it completely unnecessary. Either way, I doubt it's going away any time soon unless the league itself decides to end it by punishing the person picking the fight. The Rangers-Lightning game was filled with incidents cimilar to this. You can read more about that here.
