NHL Insider Reveals Matt Rempe's Imminent Fate Once he Returns from his 8 Game Suspension
An NHL insider revealed where the New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe will play after the end of his eight-game suspension.
On December 20th, in a game against the Dallas Stars, the New York Rangers' young player Matt Rempe landed a dangerous hit on defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
He came in at full speed and hit Heiskanen onto the boards.
Rempe received a game misconduct before being called to a hearing in front of the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
Two days later, the DoPS confirmed that Rempe would be suspended for eight games for the hit.

You can read the NHL's full statement here:
"NEW YORK -- New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has been suspended for eight games, without pay, for boarding and elbowing Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen during NHL Game No. 525 in Dallas on Friday, Dec. 20, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 7:09 the third period. Rempe was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing.
Rempe is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $80,000.00. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund."
On Thursday, Rempe will be eligible to get back on the Rangers' lineup as the team faces the New Jersey Devils.
However, it's not a sure thing that Rempe will be back in the NHL, as Emily Kaplan mentioned in a recent post.
She opened up on what the Rangers are planning to do with the player, saying that the team likes how the player is developing and that he should get another shot in the NHL at some point in the Spring:
"Well, the good news is the Rangers love him. [...] They still love his development, his attitude, and his work ethic. So as long as he learned his lessons, I do expect him to get another opportunity with the Rangers this spring."
In 22 career games, Rempe scored two points, including one goal, and accumulated 95 penalty minutes despite averaging under six minutes of ice time per game.
