Top Capitals Prospect Cam Allen Receives Serious Punishment From The League After Shocking Arrest
Cam Allen, a top prospect of the Capitals, was arrested for driving under the influence, and he has just been advised by the OHL that he has been suspended.
The OHL, one of Canada's top junior hockey leagues, issued an important statement earlier today, where they made their official decision regarding Cam Allen's egregious behavior.
For those who didn't get a chance to view it, Allen was taken in over the weekend after he was accused of a hit-and-run that he perpetrated.
A London man was arrested yesterday morning after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division responded to a running unoccupied vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a collision in the south end of the city.
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a citizen called 911 in relation to a single vehicle collision in the area of Colonel Talbot Road near Clayton Walk. Police were advised what appeared to be bl**d had been located on the driver's side door and leading away from the vehicle.
Officers arrived and located the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested a short distance away at a nearby address.
One of the passengers was transported by paramedic services to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Cameron Allen, 20, of London, is charged with the following offences:
Impaired operation of a conveyance; Impaired operation exceed blood alcohol concentration; Fail to remain; Fail to report accident; and, Novice driver- bl**d alcohol concentration above zero.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on March 6, 2025, in relation to the charges.
According to the police report, he is to be brought up on charges on March 6th. As a reaction to that, the OHL has ruled that he is to be ineligible to play until that day.
The Ontario Hockey League today announced that London Knights player Cam Allen has been suspended pending the outcome of a League review into the events of February 8, 2025 when he was charged by the London Police Service with offences related to impaired driving.
Previously a high draft prospect during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and initially going to be drafted in the top 10 or low teens, Allen's stock took a nosedive during his draft year, going in the fifth round to the Washington Capitals.
Despite returning to win a spot on a post-draft entry-level contract in his first year after that draft, this new debacle is set to put his NHL aspirations to rest once and for all. The last word is now in the courts, who rule on the 20-year-old's fate on March 6th.
