The NHL playoffs can bring supreme jubilation or heartbreak depending on where your allegiances lie, but for one Carolina Hurricanes fan he was caught on camera in a fit of emotion.

A young fan in Carolina left PNC Arena with his heartbroken after going on an emotional rollercoaster ride during Game 6.

The Hurricanes played two solid periods, ending the second period with a 3-1 lead. Carolina entered the third period in poised position to extend this series to a Game 7. This is when Rangers forward Chris Kreider would take over the game.

Kreider would score a natural hat trick in the third with the go-ahead goal coming off a beautiful tipped shot. New York defenceman Ryan Lindgren drove around the Hurricanes goal, then tossed a pass in front, Kreider got body position at the top of the crease and tipped the puck into the net.

The Hurricanes collapse was too much for one young fan who was shown on the broadcast in tears.

Carolina had chances in the third period to put the game out of reach but couldn't convert. The Hurricanes best chance in the third, came when two Rangers players collided allowing Sebastian Aho to skate in all alone on Igor Shesterkin. The Finland native was unsuccessful on his attempt.

Two great teams went to battle with the Presidents' Trophy Rangers coming out on top. New York will now rest up and wait to see if they will face the Boston Bruins or Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
