Alexei Kolosov, who recently signed his entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, is reportedly returning home after issues getting used to North America

A third round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers appears to be having some issues adapting to life in North America. Despite a very short stint with the LeHigh Valley Phantoms in 2023-24, a report says Alexei Kolosov is considering staying in Russia.

The report, from Belarushockey.com, states Kolosov is considering returning to Dinamo Minsk, the only Belarusian team playing in the KHL.

"Exclusive. Alexei Kolosov @NHLFlyers may return to Dinamo Minsk (KHL).

The player has problems with adaptation in North America.

Kolosov played 47 games for Dinamo Minsk in 2023-24, before coming over to the LeHigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL. The 78th overall pick in 2021 played in just two games for the team, and then returned back to the KHL again. It seems now that move may be permanent.

"Kolosov in under ELC to the Flyers. He was loaned to Dinamo (burning year one of the ELC) for the 2023-24 season and this past season only, as far as I know. Thereafter, Flyers get to decide where he plays next season. Flyers would have to agree to another loan. Why would they?"

The loss of netminder Carter Hart in the first half of the 2023-24 seasons has left a huge hole between the pipes for the Philadelphia Flyers, leaving them with no clear number one goaltender in their system. Kolosov's three-year entry-level contract was signed in July of 2023 as Flyers GM Danny Briere attempts to get some goaltending prospects into the organization.
