Former first-round pick Braden Schneider has a new contract with the New York Rangers after becoming a restricted free agent back on July 1st.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the New York Rangers have agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $4.4 million ($2.2 million AAV) with 2020 first-rounder Braden Schneider.

"Braden Schneider and NYR have a deal

2 x $2.2M" Friedman said.

"The Rangers have re-signed Braden Schneider to a 2-year, $4.4M contract, as per @FriedgeHNIC. ✍️"

Schneider, 22, was selected 19th overall by the New York Rangers back in 2020 and has worked his way into a full-time role with the team pretty quickly, missing only one game in the last two seasons.

The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native has taken strides forward in his game over the last two seasons and in this past year, set a new career-high in points. In 82 games during the regular season, Schneider had 19 points (five goals, 14 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-one. He went on to add two assists in 16 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
