Former Boston Bruin Oskar Steen signs five-year deal with Farjestad of the SHL
Many times in the career of a professional hockey player they are asked to move far away from home to live out their dream, especially if they're born in Europe and they have aspirations of playing in the National Hockey League.
This circumstance has come to fruition for twenty-six-year-old Oskar Steen, a veteran of sixty NHL games played with the Boston Bruins. The 5'10 inch right shooting centre who skated in sixty games for the Bruins contributing 7 goals along with 16 assists for 23 points has decided to come home, signing a five-year contract with Färjestads of the SHL.
In signing with Farjestad, Steen decided it was time to come home and be at a place that felt close to his heart which is well within his right. While the five-year contract shows that the team is comfortable giving him a long-term opportunity, it also signals that he's at a point in his career where making a decision such as this is in the best interest of not only him but his family and those closest to him.
In 155 previous games with Farjestads, he contributed with 23 goals along with 30 assists. He also had 77 penalty minutes.
