Longtime goaltender returns to Ottawa to retire as a Senator
Back in the spring at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, longtime NHL goaltender Craig Anderson decided it was time to hang up the skates and it looks like he'll be making things official with one of his former clubs.
In an Instagram post from Napolis Cafe, a restaurant in the Ottawa area, it was confirmed that Anderson has signed a contract to retire as a member of the Senators. Napolis Cafe's post also included an image of a ceremonial contract signed by Anderson to signify that he'll be retiring with the organization.
It's unclear at this time when the Senators will be bringing him to the Canadian Tire Centre to officially announce the news, but it will more than likely come before the 2023-24 season begins, which is less than two months away.
Anderson, 42, spent ten of his 20 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators where he had a record of 202-168-46, a 2.84 goals against average, a .914 save percentage and 28 shutouts in 435 games.
