The play that started this discussion happened when Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy was called for tripping against Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov.
McAvoy essentially slashed at Michkov's shins, which prompted the 19-year-old to go down.
The Bruins defenseman was not happy with the call, and proceeded to give the rookie a few cross-checks for good measure.
While reactions were certainly mixed, the general consensus among fans seems to be that Michkov went down a little easy on this one.
Many fans seemed to believe that the play was worth a tripping penalty on McAvoy, but Michkov probably deserved 2 minutes for embellishment as well.
Some were disappointed to see this from the rookie, considering how good he is naturally.
He doesn't need to work the refs to get things to go his way, after all, he had two goals in the game!
Unfortunately, he was not able to secure his first career NHL hat trick after potting the first two goals of the contest, but it was still a great showing for the 19-year-old, other than the embellishment.
After the game, Flyers head coach John Tortorella held his post-game presser as per usual.
However, things started off in an unusual way. Instead of getting right to questions, Torts made a statement about diving, telling reporters that he doesn't teach his players to do it, but just might change his mind.
This is such a classic comment from Tortorella and the reason why he is such a beloved figure in the league.
That being said, sometimes you just have to take accountability for your actions.
Michkov did go down rather easily in this one. Perhaps Tortorella will talk to him about it privately ahead of their next game.
