Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby have been rivals for almost two decades now, but this past week, they did something together that they've never done before.

Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin have been rivals dating all the way back to 2005, and between the two of them, they have accomplished all there is to accomplish in the NHL. That includes the Hart Trophy, Art Ross, Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe, countless All-Star games and memories that will last a lifetime for themselves and the fans that have watched them blossom into two of the best players that the NHL has ever seen.

Deep into their career, both players are chasing records set by Wayne Gretzky this season, but that doesn't mean they aren't creating plenty of history together. There's one thing that they've never done at the same time, but that has changed this week, as for the first time ever, the two were named among the NHL's Three Stars of the Week together.

Ovechkin is coming off a week in which he tallied 5 goals and 9 points in 4 games, inching him ever closer to the all time NHL goal scoring record of Wayne Gretzky, while Crosby continued his impressive play with 4 goals and 7 points in just 3 games played. Despite both nearing 40, they continue to show that age is just a number, but given how good both have been over their lengthy careers, it's surprising that this is the first time we've ever seen this happen.

At this stage of their careers, both are still considered to be among the NHL's best players, and with weeks like this, we should still see them featured as All-Stars this season. The NHL began tracking the Three Stars of the Week back in 2006/07, but in that time, this is when both players have been featured;
