After a poor start to the 2023-24 season, the St. Louis Blues have announced some major changes to their coaching staff.

Overnight, the Blues announced that they've relieved Craig Berube of his duties as head coach after parts of six seasons behind the bench in St. Louis, while Ryan Bannister will take over on an interim basis.

"St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced tonight the team has relieved Craig Berube of his coaching duties and named Springfield Thunderbirds head coach Drew Bannister as interim head coach.

Bannister will travel to St. Louis on Wednesday and serve his first game behind the bench on Thursday when the Blues host the Ottawa Senators."

The Blues have started this season with a record of 13-14-1 and it appears that the final straw for the organization leading to Berube's firing was Tuesday's loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Berube, 58, was behind the bench for 381 games with the St. Louis Blues, winning 206 contests and leading the team to their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2018-19, which was his first season at the helm.

The Drew Bannister era will get underway in St. Louis on Thursday evening as the team looks to turn things around against another underperforming team - the Ottawa Senators.
