The Toronto Maple Leafs visiting Madison Square Garden tonight to take on the New York Rangers and the temperature of the game rose a few notches late in the game.
With less than 10 minutes left in the third period, Leafs defender Jake McCabe lines up Rangers Ryan Lindgren and sends him flying with a massive shoulder check; take a look.
Mika Zibanejad comes to his teammates defence and gets an extra two as a result. You have to love seeing a player stand up for his team at any time, but there was no reason to do it in this instance.
McCabe has been a solid addition to the Maple Leafs since they acquired him at last year's trade deadline and this is just a textbook hit, shoulder to chest.
It's nice to see the Leafs have a little bit of toughness on the back end despite their injury struggles.
