The Seattle Kraken made history this off-season by hiring Jessica Campbell as an assistant coach. She will be the first woman to work behind a bench full-time in NHL history.

Campbell was hired by the Kraken in 2022, to work with their AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds, where she became the first woman behind a bench in the AHL.

Kraken forward Brandon Tanev was at Zach Hyman's Golf Celebrity Classic and expressed how excited he is to work with Jessica Cambell.

"Yeah, that's such an amazing moment for her. She's been in Coachella for the last two years with Dan (Bylsma) and been part of his staff. Obviously, she deserves to be, where she is, and that's amazing growth for the game. We are all super excited to have her behind our bench and listen and learn from her. Have her knowledge that she brings to the game to us."

The 32 year old, Tanev finished his third season with the Kraken last year, putting up 7 goals and 16 points in 66 games.

The Kraken missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons since their inaugural debut during the 2021-22 season. Seattle will look to Campbell to help guide them back into the playoffs amongst a very difficult Pacific division.
