Seattle Kraken's Brandon Montour admits where he almost signed
Earlier this summer after the Florida Panthers raised their first Stanley Cup in franchise history one of the core members of their back end left via free agency and signed a long-term deal with the Seattle Kraken however it almost didn't work out that way as Brandon Montour discussed recently.
The 30-year-old Montour who was a member of the Florida Panthers for the last four years discussed how important it was to make sure that he ended up in the right situation not only for him but his family who is also deeply affected by the decisions he makes in regards to his job. While there appeared to be mutual interest between Montour and the Toronto Maple Leafs he ultimately ended up with the Kraken on a long-term deal which will give him and his family at least the sense of security for a bit.
What is admirable about Montour is his admission that his decisions were ultimately family-based. While it looks like he could have come back to southern Ontario to play, his decision to play in Seattle was one he felt was right for him as a player and for his family to live in.
Many times fans and the like don't get an opportunity to see the human side of the game and how it affects those involved and those closest to those involved. While it's important to see, the vulnerability of those involved is also an aspect that's rarely shown.
