Bunting refuses to acknowledge Keefe; gets benched for rest of game
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe had enough of Michael Bunting on Sunday. Following some on-ice pushing and shoving where Bunting had to be calmed down by teammates before a penalty was called, Keefe gave it to Bunting when he got back to the bench. Bunting, however, refused to even look at Keefe, who tapped him on the shoulder again to make sure he was listening. There may have even been a but of an eye-roll from Bunting.
Following that "chat", Bunting was bolted to the bench for the remainder of the game, which was just over six minutes. Toronto managed to hang on to a 3-2 lead for the victory over the Nashville Predators. Bunting likes to stick up for himself and teammates, however it seems Keefe was more interested in ensuring a penalty call didn't lead to a tie game at the end of regulation.
