Sheldon Keefe confirms when Matthew Knies will make his debut for the Maple Leafs and it's sooner than you'd expect
The Toronto Maple Leafs are already locked into their first round matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Leafs have also locked down home ice, providing them the opportunity to try out different line combinations ahead of the playoffs. That is what the Maple Leafs have elected to do.
Yesterday the Maple Leafs made it official and signed Matthew Knies to an NHL contract. This locked down their top prospect for the next 3 years. So after a year at the University of Minnesota the Maple Leafs are definitely looking at easing their top prospect into the NHL...right?
According to Sheldon Keefe that won't be the case for Matthew Knies.
This is a bold move for the Leafs. In a game where they only have 11 forwards they'll have to rely on Knies and with an amateur goalie in the bench, the Leafs could be asking for trouble.
