Some awful news for the player and the team. Defenceman Connor Timmins, who was having the preseason of his life with the Toronto Maple Leafs, will likely be out long-term.

"Sheldon Keefe says Conor Timmins suffered a lower body injury late in Friday's game against Montreal. He'll go for an MRI today to determine the severity. The Leafs are already dealing with an injury to John Klingberg on the right side."

Timmins was brought in a depth player; a sixth or seventh blueliner at best. However, he's made a major impact for the team during the preseason. He scored six points in two games, and led the team in that category for preseason games.

"Not just the camp he has had, he has worked incredibly hard ... to have a setback is tough news for him and for us." - Sheldon Keefe

It's not exactly clear what hit injured Timmins. Whichever one it was, it seemed to go mostly unnoticed at the time. Timmins has dealt with a few injuries since coming into the league in 2017, including a concussion and knee issues.
