Since the Toronto Maple Leafs' season came to a screeching end at the ends of the Florida Panthers, things have been complete chaos for the Leafs. General Manager, Kyle Dubas made an odd proclamation about his future during the team's exit interviews, followed by 5 days later, Team President Brendan Shanahan announcing Dubas' departure. Since Dubas' termination, Assistant General Manager Brandon Pridham has been manning the phones for the Maple Leafs.

Now it seems, at least according to Howard Berger, that the Maple Leafs could be closer than ever to shaking up the Core Four. After Shanahan reportedly made it clear that the intention was to bring back the Core Four, it now appears that may not be the case.

Whispers getting loud about the #Leafs and Carolina discussing a trade involving Mitch Marner.

Rumors have swirled since the Carolina Hurricanes were swept by the Florida Panthers that the team has also been looking to aggressively add a "superstar" to their roster for next season. The Hurricanes also have nearly $30,000,000 in cap space so they truly do have options. With a decent group of prospects and a young core in place, a two-way forward like Marner could definitely put the Canes over the top.
