In the opening minutes of Maple Leafs training camp top prospect, Ben Danford suffered an injury after being on the receiving end of a hit to the head

NHL rookie camps are getting underway in the week, an opportunity for young players to make a positive impression on management. It can cause some players to be overzealous which can sometimes lead to injuries. Unfortunately for Toronto Maple Leafs rookie defenceman Ben Danford this was the exact situation he found himself in early at rookie camp.

The 18 year old, was hit hard near the boards, he was assessed for a head injury on the bench and left for the dressing room.

Danford was drafted 31st overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2024 NHL Draft in June. He wrapped up his sophmore season in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, scoring 1 goal and 33 point sin 64 games. Known for his excellent defensive instincts, he closes on the gap on forwards quickly, always applying pressure to his opponents. Toronto scouts were thrilled he was available at pick #31.

Hopefully Danford has a speedy recovery and can get back on the ice as soon as possible.
