If you follow hockey on social media, you have probably heard of a Maple Leafs supporter named "Kurtis from Alberta." He is a devoted Maple Leafs fan who spends game days at home having fun in his basement, which is something that most fans would adore. One of the main reasons his work attracts those people is his commitment, his enthusiasm, and of course, his love of beer, which he drank in the majority of his videos, so much so that he had his own produced.
We might no longer be viewing his content because of a lawsuit by one of the Maple Leafs' largest sponsors, even though most people think this is a fantastic advertisement for the team and a fan that most people can identify with.
Kurtis may not have mentioned the brand in his video, but he did disclose that he is being sent a cease and desist order to stop wearing Maple Leafs clothing because he drinks beer that isn't from the team.
It should come as no surprise that the majority of commenters were just as astonished as Kurtis seems to be. Although the team probably cannot do this legally, the prospect of legal action is probably too great for someone to bear to stop them, and in the end, Kurtis seems to be complying. This is really disappointing for the Maple Leafs fans because this is one of the most well-known and devoted fans in the NHL, and it just doesn't make sense that he's spending time at his own home and gets possibly sued for that.
This seems like a sponsor going a bit too far and destroying any remaining goodwill the team may have. Hopefully, this can be settled so Kurtis from Alberta can resume his passion for the Maple Leafs on social media, as only he can.
