Quenneville, who has been connected to the situation with the Chicago Blackhawks, was informed at the time that he was unable to accept any position with a National Hockey League team due to the circumstances of the situation and his alleged involvement with it. However, it seems that the Blackhawks themselves were very mum regarding the whole scenario and didn't take it seriously, unless someone in upper management or ownership isn't taking accountability or is outright lying.
While speculation has run rampant as to who the next head coach of the Maple Leafs will be, it has been suggested that the only way the team can get over the hump and be successful would be to hire Quenneville, and if you've had the opportunity to see how he behaves in the dressing room with his pre- and post-game speeches, you can see why he may be the best fit for this team moving forward.
It is likely and obvious that the next head coach of the Maple Leafs will not be Joel Quenneville unless there have been more talks behind the scenes that nobody is aware of, and it should be assumed that the next hire will probably be Craig Berube, who himself comes with a much different pedigree than his predecessor, but will it be enough?
While Leafs Nation waits in anticipation, only time will tell.
