Darnell Nurse lays questionable hit on Canucks' Elias Pettersson
The only two Canadian teams remaining in the Stanley Cup Playoffs are giving hockey fans quite an entertaining series so far. It's been an intense affair between the two teams and Friday night's Game 2 was no exception.
During the first period however, a dangerous incident occurred after Edmonton Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse laid a questionable hit on Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson.
Pettersson had the puck down below the Oilers net when Darnell Nurse comes in and lays a big hit on the Swedish forward, who was in a vulnerable position and smacked his head on the boards. There was no penalty called on the play, which frustrated the Canucks' bench and their fans.
" Darnell Nurse with a dangerous hit on Elias Pettersson, no call on the play 🤕"
Thankfully for the Vancouver Canucks, Elias Pettersson was fine and stayed in the game. He was down on the ice holding his head for a few seconds after the hit, before getting back up.
The 25-year-old played a big role in the first period, opening the scoring for the Canucks on the powerplay, which was his first goal of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"That trademark Elias Pettersson one-timer 🚀"
If the Vancouver Canucks want to go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they'll need Elias Pettersson to be at the top of his game, something that hasn't been the case for a little over a month now.
