Vancouver Canucks Give Unfortunate Injury Update on Veteran Filip Hronek
The Vancouver Canucks have dealt with some big injuries already this season, and now they have confirmed Filip Hronek will miss two months of action, leaving the right side of their defense in dire need of an upgrade.
With J.T. Miller's absence and the injury issues surrounding Brock Boeser, the last thing the Vancouver Canucks needed early in 2024/25 was another devastating injury.
Unfortunately, that recently came up when Filip Hronek went down with an upper-body injury, with the team now confirming that he will miss eight weeks of action for the Canucks.
While it appeared to be a shoulder injury that took Hronek down, he reportedly had surgery on a lower-body injury, while the arm injury didn't require surgery, so this time off will be much needed for him to get back to 100% on the season.
What makes this worse for Vancouver is the fact that Hronek has played on the top pairing alongside Quinn Hughes all season long, giving the Canucks yet another headache that they didn't want to deal with.
In his absence already, the team have turned to Tyler Myers, Noah Juulsen and Vincent DeSharnais on the right side, and while they can survive that, it's safe to say that's not a Stanley Cup winning defensive group.
In recent times, Vancouver have reportedly contacted the Boston Bruins about a potential reunion with Nikita Zadorov, and with the likes of Rasmus Ristolainen, Mike Matheson and Rasmus Andersson among others potentially available, they'll need to be aggressive on the trade market.
While Hronek works well alongside Hughes on the top pairing, this team needs better production from their blue line, so keep a close eye on how they handle this situation moving forward as they look to go several steps further than last year and compete for a Stanley Cup.
