In the opening minute of game 3 between the Winnipeg Jets and Las Vegas Golden Knights, both teams were looking to set a physical tone early in the game. In the opening minute of the game, two heavyweights squared up at centre ice.
Brandon Dillion of the Jets grabbed Keegan Kolesar from the Knights, and began a solid fight to energize the Winnipeg crowd in their first home playoff game this season.
The physicality continued early on, as on the power play, Mark Scheifele of the Jets delivered a right hook to the face of Nicolas Hague.
There's no doubt that the physicality met the expectations of the whiteout crowd in Winnipeg, but it didn't seem to translate success early on, as the Jets allowed the first two goals to the Golden Knights.
After splitting the opening two games of the series in Vegas, and opening this game with a fight, both teams have set the tone for a highly physical, tightly contested series.
