Vegas Golden Knights Robin Lehner disputes what team feels about his health via statement
Vegas Golden Knights Robin Lehner released a statement after the expectation was that he was to attend training camp even with his medical condition.
As camps opened across the National Hockey League earlier this week it had been reported that the Vegas Golden Knights were considering voiding the contract of goaltender Robin Lehner due to some sort of breach. Now days later, Lehner has released a statement, and it feels as if there was an expectation with which Lehner was supposed to follow through and flat out just didn't bother.
Whether Lehner was fit to play, which it had been reported previously, he wouldn't be, he was supposed to report to camp to get the physical required to deem him unable to play, which of course he didn't.
GM Kelly McCrimmon did his best to remain diplomatic when releasing a statement regarding the situation, but even then the entire thing is a mess. McCrimmon's release said the following
(Robin) will not be reporting to the club this year,» Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon said Thursday. «He continues to be unfit to play. There are unique circumstances surrounding this situation that the NHL, the NHLPA and (Vegas) are working through. Collectively, we are assessing our next steps, and when we have more to say, we will.
Without being present and in the room, it feels as if someone is lying or there is a giant misunderstanding with the entire situation and while fingers are being pointed at each other, there is a game of he said/she said being played which doesn't feel right or bode well for anyone. While it's likely true that Lehner can't participate this season, he, his agent, believes that he can while the Golden Knights and/or Kelly McCrimmon feel that he can't. While nobody knows for certain the truth may come out sooner rather than later. Until then, Lehner remains absent from camp and the Golden Knights will do whatever they can in their power to make sure he shows up, one way, shape or form.
