Alexander Ovechkin may very well likely be in his final two seasons with the Washington Capitals, but if that's the case and he's lucky he may be able to wear the jersey in which he wore his rookie season. That is, if reports leaked are accurate.
According to Russian Machine Never Breaks the Capitals are poised to release a third jersey just in time for their 50th anniversary. While details about the release are vague at best, the team may be in line to use the eagle with the white, black, or limited-use red jersey.
Ovechkin himself has raved about the jerseys multiple times that they were his favourite and as the face of the franchise for close to twenty years and one of if not the best goal scorers in the history of the league, it would make sense to appease him, even if just for a bit.
And then there's Fanatics. The new jersey supplier of the National Hockey League seemed to originally be in over their head releasing apparel that didn't appear to be good quality while also sharing difficult-to-watch marketing material that made you cringe. Could they ask teams to hold off on designing new work while they get their ducks in a row? Whatever the NHL, Fanatics and the 32-member teams across the National Hockey League have up their sleeve for jersey releases, I'll be here for it.
