Elvis Merzlikins goes at it with Tom Wilson
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals were knotted up at two goals a piece after regulation tonight and the game headed for overtime, where things got pretty heated.
With just over two minutes remaining in the extra frame, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson and Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins went at it in the net, throwing punches before the officials quickly skated in to separate the pair.
After the whistle blew however, all players on the ice skated down to the Blue Jackets' zone to get into the action, with Columbus trying to protect their goaltender.
Merzlikins was the only player on the ice to receive a penalty, two minutes for roughing, and it cost his team big time as Alexander Ovechkin scored the overtime winner on the powerplay.
