Justin Holl delivers a big hit and then gets dropped by a right from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs only face each other twice a season, but it appears there is still some remaining animosity between the teams from their time in the North Division. Last night the Maple Leafs made the trip to Edmonton to face off against the Oilers, in what ended up being a one-sided affair between the two games.
The Oilers left the game with a 5-2 victory, which is more flattering than the Maple Leafs actual performance. Midway through the 3rd period, Holl delivered a big hit to Kailer Yamamoto that sent the forward to the ice. Holl was immediately challenged by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to drop the gloves, and both players agreed.
As the fight went on, RNH who gave up both height and weight in the fight, was able to land a massive right hand that sent Holl to the ice.
Both players were given 5-minute majors for fighting and Holl appeared no worse for wear. This was likely more of a shot to the pride than anything else for the defender, who is expected to possibly be on his way out of Toronto in the next 2 days.
