The Minnesota Wild are taking on the Washington Capitals in what has been a spirited affair throughout, tensions have finally boiled over.
Early in the 3rd period, Wild defender Matt Dumba catches Evgeny Kuznetsov
with his head down near centre ice before having to deal with the response from T.J Oshie, take a look:
Never skate on the middle of the ice with your head down or you're going to get caught. This looks like a pretty text book hit from Dumba, but having to respond after has become customary.
Fighting after a clean hit is something that taken over the game recently, it's always unfortunate to see a player down on the ice, but not every hit should leave someone needing to answer the bell. To me this looks like a borderline hit on the cleaner side.
At the same time, on this particular Instance with the caps down by two you can't really go without an answer.
Either way, both men held their own and did what they had to do for their teams.
