Outrage after Veteran Canadian Player in his 30s teaches lesson to 18-year-old in a tilt
Many are not happy after an incident in Norway's EHL where a veteran player beat up an 18-year-old, breaking his nose in the process.
A Canadian playing professional hockey in Norway is taking a ton of heat from the league and online after destroying someone 15 years his junior during a fight.
According to AftonBladet.se, 33 year old Olivier Dame-Malka of Montreal was playing his last game with a team in Norway's EHL, as his contract was set to expire in a few hours. After a hit that riled up the players, Dame-Malka dropped the gloves with 18-year-old Sondre Gronli, and made very short work of him, landing two huge blows to the face and breaking Gronli's nose in the process.
Commentators with the EHL called the incident one of the worst things they've seen.
"It's like the NHL in the 70s. He humiliates Norwegian hockey. It's terribly unnecessary. I don't hope that anyone in Norwegian hockey signs a contract with him." - TV2's Jorgen Wahlberg."
Meanwhile, the team Gronli plays for has reported the incident to police in Norway.
"You just have to look at the impact. It is punishable under Norwegian law. - Team Chair Gisle Edvard rnes
Both Gronli's team and the commentators believe Dame-Malka's contract expiring had a lot to do with what happened on the ice.
