Last night the Boston Bruins lost to the Florida Panthers 6-1, in game 2 of their Eastern Conference matchup. While the game wasn't contested very closely on the scoreboard, Austin was able to send a message that they weren't willing to back down. The game saw 14 players ejected in the final period.

One of the key moments of the third period is when the camera captured Boston Bruins forward, David Pastrnak and Matthew Tkachuk engage in a conversation on the ice. It is very clear from the interaction that Tkachuk was likely trying to intimidate Pastrnak. Instead of being intimidated, however, he agreed to drop the gloves with a much more seasoned physical player.

As Pastrnak returns to the bench he immediately approaches his head coach and tells him that he's going to drop the gloves with Tkachuk.

Pasta and Tkachuk agreed to fight before going at it the next shift! 🤯

It's clear from the interaction that Montgomery was on board with his star player dropping the gloves. Unfortunately for Pastrnak he didn't fare so well but what he did was energize his team and show that they were unwilling to back down no matter how big the challenge. On the play both he and Tkachuk receive 5-minute majors for fighting and 10-minute misconducts ending their nights.

This truly sent a message to not only the Panthers but to his teammates as well, that the Bruins aren't going anywhere.
