It's not quite NHL season yet, but, with rookie camps underway, we finally have some hockey action between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens renew their rivalry, or at the very least, their prospects do. Either way, it didn't take long for the two teams to drop the gloves as Florian Xhekaj and Chas Sharpe get familiar with one another just 2 minutes into the game.
Xhekaj, the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens defender Arber Xhekaj takes after him wanting to make a name for himself early by handling Maple Leafs prospect Sharpe.
The two dropped the gloves after a brief conversation and just started throwing with reckless abandon. In the end Xhekaj was too strong for Sharpe and after a couple of solid punches, Sharpe would be taken to the ice.
Rookie tournaments are all about making a name for yourself and standing out, Xhekaj certainly did that with this dominant win.
Hockey season is right around the corner and spirited tilts like this one should have fans excited for the NHL season to begin. For now though, we'll have to settle for watching the prospects of our favourite NHL teams thrown down like the Jr Canadiens and baby Leafs did here.
