Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals was denied in his bid fight Matt rempe of the New York Rangers last night after Rempe took out a teammate with a big hit

He's usually up for all challengers, but Matt Rempe clearly knows when dropping the gloves would be a pointless endeavor for him. That happened in game 3 of the New York Rangers first-round series of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs last night against the Washington Capitals.

Rempe got in on the action early, taking the Caps Trevor van Riemsdyk out of the game with a massive hit that earned him two minutes for interference.

Later on, Capitals tough guy tried his best to get Rempe to drop the gloves, but with his team in the lead and on their way to a 3-0 lead in the series, Rempe ignored Wilson's attempts. It's worth noting that Wilson gave Rempe a hard shove that barely moved the six-foot-seven, 241 pounder.

The Washington Capitals now have a massive uphill climb to have any hopes of making it to the second round of the 2024 playoffs. The New York Rangers have been dominant in the first three games, which isn't really a surprise considering it's a President's Trophy-winning team against a team that barely squeaked into the postseason. Game 4 takes place Sunday night. If van Riemsdyk is unable to play, it will mark the third regular defenseman for the Caps to be taken out of the series so far.
