Amid the best season of his career, Philip Broberg could be forced to be removed from the lineup for a long time after leaving last night's game with an injury.
Broberg had to retreat to the St. Louis Blues locker room after a battle for the puck against Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner. The Leafs player fell on Broberg's leg, who collapsed on the ice in pain.
After receiving assistance from the medical unit, Broberg left the ice on his own, receiving taps on his back from his teammates.
Watch how the defenseman got injured in the video below:
In a new development, Dr. Harjas Grewal, who's not afraid to share his opinion on injuries that occur in the NHL, revealed what he believes lies ahead for Beroberg's recovery.
On X, the Doctor revealed that Broberg possibly tore his MCL, ACL, and Meniscus (or all of them). However, he believes that the worst-case scenario could be avoided.
Such injuries can take months, even years to heal. Fortunately, according to Dr. Grewal, in Broberg's case, it seems to be an isolated grade 1 or 2 MCL injury which could need between two and six weeks to heal.
Here's what he posted:
The defenseman joined St. Louis on an offer sheet over the summer and he already seems to be a fan favorite with the Blues. Broberg, 23, is currently ranked 2nd in points for the Blues, with two goals and seven assists. In only 12 games, he beat his career-high, making Blues fans wonder where his ceiling actually is.
