The Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers was helped off the ice after getting injured delivering an awkward hit last night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Things aren't off to a great start for Rick Tocchet and his men during this new season. With only two games played, it's not time to panic just yet. Their season started Wednesday and they lost both games in overtime and shootout.

With the uncertainty surrounding the health of number one goalie Thatcher Demko, who's been injured since the last playoffs, some fans are worried the Canucks won't be able to get to the level they were last season.

Another development that could come in the way of a successful run emerged last night in the Canucks' 3-2 shootout loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.

During the first period, defenseman Tyler Myers landed a hit on Flyers' Joel Farabee, but his leg twisted in an awkward angle. Myers couldn't skate or put weight on his leg after the hit. He had to be helped off the ice by his teammates and never returned to the game.

Here's how it went down:

Without Myers, the Canucks' blue line suddenly doesn't have that much depth. With Demko already injured, the rest of the team will need to step up and score more goals if they want to win games.

An update on Myers' health will be expected in the coming days. If he were to miss a long time, the Canucks would've multiple options to replace him during his recovery.

The team could decide to send Vincent Desharnais on the lineup, or call up either Mark Friedman or Erik Brannstrom, who was acquired in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, from the AHL.
