15-year NHL veteran placed on waivers; two claimed off Wednesday's wire

A 15-year NHL veteran has been placed on waivers, while two players from yesterday's wire have been claimed, it's been a busy day on the wire.

The wire was fairly active on Thursday afternoon as a veteran forward of nearly 900 NHL games was placed on waivers by his team.

According to Arthur Staple, the New York Rangers have placed 35-year-old forward Nick Bonino on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.

"#NYR will be placing Nick Bonino on waivers this afternoon" Staple said.

Bonino, a native of Hartford, has appeared in 45 games for the Rangers this season, putting up five points (one goal, four assists), eight penalty minutes and is a minus-12. He signed a one-year contract worth $800,000 with the Rangers on July 1st.

In other waivers related news, both players on the wire on Wednesday, Adam Ruzicka and Nick DeSimone have both been claimed. Ruzicka is heading to the Arizona Coyotes, while DeSimone is off to the New Jersey Devils.

Ruzicka, 24, has appeared in 39 games for the Flames this season where he's put up nine points (three goals, six assists), six penalty minutes and is a minus-eight.

DeSimone, 29, has recorded five points (one goal, four assists) in 23 games for the Flames and has also put up eight points in ten games for their American Hockey League affiliate.
