5-time Stanley Cup Champion passes away
Unfortunately yesterday the hockey world received some more bad news, as it was announced that Barry Fraser passed away at the age of 82. Fraser was the Director of Scouting for the Edmonton Oilers throughout their entire dynasty. Fraser worked from the organization from 1979 until 2000.
Many people credit Fraser as being one of most integral parts of the Oilers organization. It is also believed that without Fraser, the Oilers dynasty doesn't happen.
He was responsible for a lot of Edmonton's dynasty being drafted, being a vocal part of the team drafting Mark Messier, Kevin Lowe, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri, Grant Fuhr, Andy Moog, Steve Smith, Esa Tikkanen, Jeff Beukeboom, Kelly Buchberger, Kirk Maltby, Jason Arnott, Miroslav Satan, Ryan Smyth, Fernando Pisani, Tom Poti, Shawn Horcoff & Jason Chimera. We offer our sincerest condolences to the Fraser Family, as well as the Oilers Organization and anyone impacted by his passing.
