AHL suspends player for multiple games after he violently cross checks opponent in the face
On Friday night Clark Bishop of the Calgary Wranglers was penalized for delivering two vicious cross checks to the face of Charles Hudon. It was clear after the play that Bishop was going to receive supplemental discipline for this play, but how many games?
Yesterday the AHL announced that Bishop would receive a 4-game suspension for his actions.
On the play Bishop cross checks Hudon directly in the face which knocks him to the ground. As Hudon rises to his knees he delivers a retaliatory shot of his own. That's when Bishop delivers the final blow, a cross check to the face of a downed Hudon which folds him over.
Bishop was a former 4th round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes. Bishop has only managed to play in 47 career games. Hudon played last season in Europe before returning to the AHL this season.
