Adam Johnson's teammate makes heartbreaking decision after witnessing teammates tragedy
The hockey world was shook by the tragic events that took the life of American ice hockey player Adam Johnson. The devastating accident has left a lasting effect on teammates and those close to Adam.
One of Adam's teammates Victor Björkung who was on the ice during the fatal accident has decided that he will not return to the Nottingham Panthers.
The 30 year old Sweden native Bjorkung was playing his first season in the EIHL with the Panthers. He previously played in Denamrk, Slovakia and Sweden.
Bjorkung told the media that the Panthers have gotten the players a psychologist and trauma team to help deal with the tragedy.
Bjorkung said:
"I have tried to suppress a lot - you are so shocked at the moment, everything goes so damn fast.
"One moment you have your friend there, the next second he's gone."
"It is the most traumatizing thing I have seen in my entire life - being on the ice when a friend I hold close dies like that, it's terrible."
Everyone at Blade of Steel wishes Bjorkung all the best on his future.
