After missing out on Gaudreau Flames re-sign one of their pending free Agents
The Calgary Flames fan base is still reeling from the loss of fan favourite, Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau opted to sign closer to home in Columbus, but despite the disappointment Brad Treliving has no choice but to move on. Treliving and The Calgary Flames did so by announcing they have re-signed defenseman Nikita Zadorov to a two-year contract carrying an AAV of $3,750,000.
The 27-year-old, scored four goals and 22 points while averaging 16:55 in 74 games with the Flames in 202122. His new deal extends through the end of the 202324 season.
He has been a steady third-pairing defender, taking tough minutes and generally keeping the opposition to the outside. He's at his best when using his 6'6" frame and playing physical. He laid 181 hits in 2021-22 season.
In 485 career regular-season games with Buffalo, Colorado, Chicago, and Calgary, Zadorov has scored 27 goals and 105 points.
